Printer Offline or Won’t Print

Use these safe checks before opening a service request. Avoid deleting printers, reinstalling drivers, or changing IP/network settings unless Charlestowne Digital asks you to.

Quick Checks

  1. Confirm the printer or copier is powered on and the screen is ready, not showing an error.
  2. Check that the network cable is connected if the device uses wired Ethernet.
  3. Confirm you selected the correct printer in the application.
  4. Try printing a simple one-page document from another application.
  5. Check the print queue for a paused job, an error, or a job that is blocking everything behind it.
  6. If multiple users cannot print to the same device, tell us that in the service request.

If only one computer is affected while other users can print normally, include that detail. It helps distinguish a workstation/driver problem from a printer or network problem.

Do Not Change

  • Printer IP address
  • TCP/IP port settings
  • Shared print-server queues
  • Drivers on a managed workstation
  • Network or firewall settings

Those changes can affect other users or make diagnosis harder.
