Print Quality Troubleshooting
Faded output, lines, streaks, spots, or color problems can come from the original document, paper, supplies, or the imaging system. These checks help narrow it down safely.
Quick Checks
- Try another document. If only one file prints poorly, the problem may be in that document rather than the machine.
- Make a copy directly at the device. If copies and prints both show the same defect, tell us that.
- Confirm the correct paper type is loaded and the paper is dry and undamaged.
- Check the screen for low-toner, waste-toner, maintenance, or other supply messages.
- If the problem affects copies or scans from the document feeder or glass, inspect the scan glass for visible marks.
- Keep a sample page or take a clear photo of the defect for the service request.
For a visible mark on the scan glass, use only a soft lint-free cloth suitable for glass. Do not spray cleaner directly into the machine.
Stop and Request Service If…
- Lines or spots repeat at regular intervals.
- Output is consistently very light after supplies are confirmed.
- Color is badly misregistered or one color is missing.
- Toner is loose or rubs off the page.
- You see a damaged roller, drum, belt, or other internal component.
Do not touch drums, transfer components, or hot fuser areas.
